Gold vs Silver: Which Should You Buy?

The gold-silver ratio is the most widely watched precious metals indicator. When the ratio exceeds 80:1, silver has historically been a strong buy. When it drops below 50:1, rotating into gold tends to outperform. The current ratio is shown in the table above, calculated from live COMEX spot prices.

Platinum and palladium are driven more by industrial demand (automotive catalytic converters) than by investment flows. The gold-platinum ratio above 2:1 historically signals platinum is undervalued. Compare all four metals above to find relative value.
